Friday morning I stopped at Lowe's and bought plants for my flower pots and planter boxes as all of my plants (except for my rosebush) were killed by either last summer's drought or this winter's freeze.
This plant had buds but no bloomed flowers, and I picked it so that I could enjoy watching all those buds mature and bloom. The one bud looked so ready to open, I expected it to open on Friday.
It didn't. It didn't open on Saturday, Sunday or Monday either. But this morning, when I went outside with the dogs, look! It is gorgeous.
And I good reminder to me that everything blooms in its own time. I am trying really hard to raise the visibility of my books, and to grow my audience. That is a lot like planting a garden or a plant.
With a garden, you pick the plants or seeds, you plant them, you water them, you make sure they get the right amount of sunshine, and then you wait for the magic to happen.
Kind of the same progression with books. You write the books, you publish the books. You post about the books. You check and see if any sales occurred because of your efforts. You wait for magic to happen.
I really want that magic of increased sales to happen now. But just like I wanted this flower to open on Friday, it opened in its own time on Monday.
My sales will increase or not in their own time. I can check and worry all I want to. I can keep posting on this blog. I can run ads on Amazon and Facebook. But I can't make magic happen. That is up to the readers I haven't found yet. I just have to keep looking for them.
