I have a love/hate relationship with my treadmill. I REALLY do not enjoy walking on the treadmill. All of the wonderful uplifting feelings that walking in nature provide just don't happen on the treadmill. But, it isn't always possible to walk outside.
My training schedule called for me to walk 8 miles today. We are under an excessive heat warning, and an air quality alert advising people with asthma to stay indoors as much as possible. When I walked Deuce (my dog) this morning, I realized it would have to be a treadmill day.
Which is why I love the treadmill. I did not want to miss another long workout, and I missed last week because of the trip to West Virginia.
I didn't do eight miles, I figured two hours on the treadmill was enough to build both endurance and discipline. The treadmill recorded 7.02, so with the .80 I walked with Deuce, I am calling it good enough.
I watched the movie "A Man Called Otto" while I walked. If the perspiration wasn't enough to dehydrate me, the tears added another element of fluid loss. It was a wonderful movie. But it comes with a trigger warning for a reason.
I am proud that I did my workout. Really hoping this heat dome moves on, we get some rain, and I can go back to enjoying outdoor workouts again.
