I had a very good and productive day yesterday. I had planned to get up at 6 and be at City Park by 8 to walk 8 miles in my training plan for an October half-marathon. That totally did not happen. I turned off the alarm and went back to sleep. I finally woke up a little after seven.
On Friday, I made a big pot of poultry stock with all of the scraps in my freezer. I froze several containers of stock, and made chicken stew with the rest. I love dumplings with my chicken stew, but my daughter does not. I wanted to send her some chicken stew to enjoy, but couldn't figure out what to pair it with. Noodles? Rice? Potatoes?
Inspiration struck yesterday morning. I would bake bread bowls. I googled and found a recipe using active dry yeast, which is what I had in the house. I finally got out to walk around 11, and decided to walk along the lakefront because it was cloudy and windy and so should be fine without the shade of City Park.
While I was walking I thought about my new book, and started writing the prologue in my head. I was greatly looking forward to finishing my walk and getting started putting words on the screen.
Alas, when I sat down at my computer, nothing. The words wouldn't come. I started on the bread making process. Viola!
After mixing the dough and kneading the dough, I sat back down at the computer and the words just flowed. It always amazes me how creating one thing allows my brain to create something else. I finished the first draft of the prologue of book 11 yesterday.
Book 11 will focus on healing. There are many characters in the Bayou Beni Series that have hurts, both physical and emotional to heal from. This book will follow their journeys. I'm excited that I finally started writing it.
Eight miles, baking bread bowls, and a prologue written. A very good day indeed.
